THE SPORTSMAN SPIRIT

Sports has always fascinated me. In 12 years of my schooling and 1 year of my college sports has been an integral component in my life. I treat sports not as a plural but as a singular entity with an intention to emphasize on all the sports I play rather than a particular game.

I have tried every sport I could including cricket, football, lawn tennis, table tennis, basketball, chess, swimming and even roller skating. But the once I have really excelled in includes roller skating and football. And just for the record I was the Vice Sports Captain in my school. But after my 10th grade the relation between me and my sports has been on and off. I am even a part of my college football team but our playing schedule has been rather sprawled.

Today, after what looked like ages to me, was the ' perfect sporting day ' for me. There wasnt much to do today in college so we spent most of our day playing cricket. I had just reached home when I got a call from an old friend who asked me to play lawn tennis. We had been trying to work it out for sometime now and finally we went today to the sports complex. I had just finished playing lawn tennis when my phone began to beep with messages coming from the local football players for a match. We play football under lights after 8 pm until 10 pm. Today, also like every other day was one of the most amazing games of soccer I had ever played.

And when I came back, took a shower, ate my dinner; I felt so appeased despite all the exhaustion and pain. That made me realized how much I love my sports. Its not just about maintaining the fitness levels but the sense of Sportsman Spirit it arouses in me. That atmosphere of competition it creates and most importantly the sheer pleasure of it. Maybe I am not a professional sportsperson but sports is undoubtedly more than just a hobby to me, an indispensable part of my life.
