ROCK ON.......LIVE YOUR DREAM

Let me start with, I feel lucky to have seen this movie, which I am sure is going to be a big blockbuster hit and it deserves to be so. It is just one of those inspiring movies which makes you wanna live your life to the fullest. Undoubtedly, the best moments of one's life, the moments you foster the most are the one's spent with you friends. For me this movie just reinforces that fact, besides other things.

This basic plot of this movie contemplates the story of four friends Aditya, Joseph, KD(Killer Drummer) and Rob who group as a band called 'MAGIK' to create some of the best music. They even win a competition and a contract to create their own album. Butsome misunderstandings and misconceptions lead to a spat between Adi, the lead singer played by Farhan Akhtar and Joe, the lead guitarist played by Arjun Rampal and eventually the band splits up. But time conspires and MAGIK gets another chance to perform together once more after ten long years and be friends again.

As far as the performances of the actors is concerned everybody did a great job and Arjun Rampal, in particular has been superb. But the revelation of this movie really has been Farhan Akhtar. Everybody knew he is a fine director, but not too many knew what a terrific actor and a marvelous singer this guy is. Some of the songs, in fact all of the songs sung by him are amazing. Also hats off to the trio of Shankar Ehsaan Loy who have again provided us with such great music to listen to.

To wrap up this I would like to advice every movie buff and music lovers to go and watch this movie beacuse you are gonna love it. And I would go with 4 out of 5 stars for ROCK ON. It completely rocks!!!!!

AMAZING SOCCER SKILLS

Being a football lover and a member of the college football team I do keep on trying different things with a soccer ball but its just too bad I dont possess any extraordinary skills unlike the guy in the following video. The control he has on a soccer ball is quite inexplicable. He showcases 24 different moves with a soccer ball which are completely mind bobbling. I wish I could do some of these, that would certainly make me famous amongst my teammates, if not anything else.
Just sit back and enjoy this incredible video.

US OPEN 2008

US OPEN 2008 got underway on 25th august . Being a sports lover I do follow a lot of sports and lawn tennis is one of them. Personally, I like playing football but I have always felt that a high quality tennis game is the best sporting spectacle. So I might write a few posts on US OPEN 2008 in the upcoming weeks.
For those unaware, US OPEN is an annual event and is one of the four Grand Slams, i.e. Australian Open, Rolland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open. Like the other grand slams it mainly consists of five championships Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.Since 1978, the tournament has been played on acrylic hard court at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in the Queen's borough of New York City. The US Open differs from the other three Grand Slam tournaments in that there are final-set tiebreaks. In the other three majors, the fifth set for the men and the third set for the women continue until someone wins by two games. Total prize mone of the tournament is a whopping US $ 19, 600, 000.
In Men's competition the strongest contender is surely the defending Champion Roger Federer, even though his toughest competitor and arch rival Rafael Nadal has succeeded him as rank 1. After winning Roland Gaross, Wimbledon and most recently Olmpic Gold the Spaniard is on a high but the Swiss king would be looking to take is throne back. I really dont see anbody else standing a chance in the Men's competition.
The women's competition, on the other hand is wide open according to me. With Maria Sharapova pulling out, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic of Serbia seeded 1 and 2 respectively stand a very good chance. The William sisters are always a threat and Elena Dementieva of Russia is also on a high after winning an Olympic Gold. Dinara Safina of Russia, according to me could turn out to be the Dark Horse and can create some major upsets. Also with Sania Mirza pulling out there is nothing much to look forward to from the Indian perspective.
I myself am backing Rafael Nadal and Dinara Safina to win the championship and looking forward to watch their matches.

LIFE IN LINES

Imagine what it would be like to blog every moment you cherish and want to share it with your friends. Well dear friends now it is possible courtesy a new platform LifeInLines (LiL).
This website which is a wonderful blend of blogging and social networking is a creation of Ankur Gattani and Maninder Gulati, alumni of IIT Bombay. The specialty of this website is that it allows its registered users to upload their posts in any form they want that is, text, pictures or even audio recordings which can be recorded by simply dialing a phone number from your registered phone number. The post can be made through email, SMS, MMS or google talk. This site also provide the necessary security and privacy options. It is up to the user that which moments does he/she wants to keep it to himself or share it with someone special or share it with everybody. I mean a person can go as much public or as much private he/she wants. This site will also bring respite to to those who cannot access social networking sites like orkut from their workplace , because all you need is registered mobile phone. According to Mr. Gattani, "This will serve as a personal archive. There are so many moments that cant be captured in text so a person's voice becomes a powerful means."
I think its a brilliant idea as it and could be mighty successful if implemented correctly as it provides much more options than other social networking sites like orkut and facebook. I am too thinking of joining Life In Lines soon and then I wont be needing an internet connection to stay connected to my friends. Sounds cool, isnt it?

IT IS LIKE DOOMSDAY

Yup, you guessed it right, my result is finally out and you might have sensed it until now I am not too happy.
You wake up on a Sunday morning thinking that everything in this world is just about right, just when you come to know there is result waiting to ruin the day. Now I did manage a 78% which is respectable but I am quite disappointed because I expected much more. The worst part is that it is a big slip from the last time.
Now some might think that I am too whiny and I am also expecting a couple of comments describing me so, but I am supposed to blog what I feel. And right now I dont feel like writing anymore.
But life always gives you a second chance, so I will try harder and try and score a better result the next time around.

Burj Al Arab

Today me and my cousin were discussing about world's most destinations and he told me about this marvelous seven-star hotel located in U.A.E. which he visited last year with his family , Burj Al Arab. So I decided to google it and here's what I found.

One of the very few seven star hotels of the world Burj Al Arab stands over one thousand feet tall and was built to resemble the sail of a yacht.

This mega structure has been built over its own island located about 1000 feet offshore from Dubai.

The architecture of this hotel is such that despite being so long it contains only 28 stories as each story is built of twice the height of a usual story inside a hotel.

This is the view of one of the 202 Duplex suites of Burj Al Arab. Each of these have floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the water surrounding this offshore property. The room is laden with all kinds of latest technologies and accessories with the controls at guest's fingertips.
the hotel also provides a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce for its patrons to visit other destinations in Dubai.

The hotel's lobby has a very soothing ambiance and its interiors are just magnificent.

Al Mahara, the restaurant is one of the main attraction as it is world's only under water restaurant. Dining here starts with a three-minute simulated submarine descent. It also has a floor to ceiling saltwater aquarium built at the center of the room.

On the top floor is located the spa at the Burj Al Arab. There are seperate pools as well as treatment rooms for men and women.

Absolutely sensational stuff, isnt it? I dont know about you guys but this wonder has certainly gone to the top of my list of dream destinations.

INDIA'S MOST EXPENSIVE CRASH

Today while browsing the net I came across these staggering pics of a Lamborghini MurciƩlago LP640 crash which happened in Mumbai a few days back. It is possibly the most expensive car crash of India. I thought I might share them with you.

As you can see the front end of the car has been decimated completely. The front axle and wheels are nowhere to be found which have left many wondering. But the most amazing thing is that the driver made it out alive despite such an annihilation of the vehicle, proving the fact what a tough nut this dream machine is.
This might sound a bit stingy but I dont really feel for the driver as much as I do for the car.I mean, what a waste of a beauty!!!!!!!

AAYAM

I am about to retire after a very tiring day at the college. Tiring, not because I was studying really hard but tiring because we did a lot of other stuff. I traveled from my home to college (30 km), from college to cinema hall for the movies which we could not watch because the tickets were not availaible (10 km), from cinema hall back to college (10 km), from college to Ansal Plaza & then back home (about 50 km). Hufff.... now isnt that tiring??
A couple of my collegemates decided, a few days back, to start a Dramatics society in our college. After much struggle and hardwork it finally happened. Today were the first ever auditions of "AAYAM", the official dramatics society of our college. So apart from wandering around the streets of delhi, I also appeared for its auditions today. It was a fun experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The audition consisted of two performances, a monologue and a group performance. We were given topics on the spot for both and had to prepare performances for the same within a few minutes. The topic I got for my monologue was "Corrupt Officer, Subtle Bribery", and for group performance "Lok Sabha". My monologue performance kind of sucked. I could convey what I was trying to. But I completely rocked in my group performance. We were four people and I played Navjot Singh Sidhu and the other three characters were Lalu Prasad Yadav, Atal Vihari Vaajpayee and speaker of Lok Sabha. Our performance was really appreciated by the judges and I could tell from there expression that I kind of stole the show.
I have always had my interests in dramatics and AAYAM would be the perfect platform to deal with them. And after a good audition I am hoping to be a part of AAYAM. The results will be out tomorrow and I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

APPLE iPhone 3G

Aug 22, i.e. this Friday will mark a new chapter in India's telecom history. It is the launch of the much awaited Apple iPhone 3G. The furor this little gadget has created, not only in India but all around the globe, is astounding. Every second person I meet nowadays tells me, " Hey! iPhone 3G is being launched on Aug 22." and I tell them, " Ya, even the deaf & the dumb know that."
Apple having had achieved enormous success with its i-Pods and i-Macs, has created a real frenzy amongst the admirers of Steve Jobs' work and even those who dont even know who Steve Job is, with its iPhone 3G.
No doubt, there are huge expectations but so have been the speculations. With speculations I mean the price and the contractual details. In India, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone are bringing this mean machine coming this Friday. But now the prices are finally out. the 8gb model will be availaible for 31K and only in white colour while the 16gb model will cost 36.1K and will come in white as well as black.
For those unaware, 3g stands for third generationof mobile phone standards and technology, which will enable us to get better services which includes wide-area wireless voice telephony, video calls, and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile enviornment. iPhone 3G includes all these features, with twice the speed of first generation iPhone and it also includes a built-in GPS.
The pricing, I am sure has broken a lot of hearts all over India but still the franchise holders are flooded with advanced bookings. I myself was too excited about the prospect of buying this baby but 31K is too high a price and I really hope I could own one someday.

BACK TO BLOGGING

How lousy and pathetic can someone be? Even the lousiest of all tend to realize sooner than later, the levels of disgust they have achieved, and perhaps try to rectify the same.
But not me. It is just shocking for me to know how lethargic I am. Writing blogs was one of the few good decisions that I have taken in some time now. So I did start writing blogs. But 8 post was all I could manage in three and a half months, i.e.May, June, July, and half of August. That is the level of disgust I have manged. In short, dear readers (if any), today I stand before yourself confessing the fact that "I hate myself".
But guess what!! I am not the only one. Gaurav Arora and Himanshu Garg, two of my college mates who started blogging round about the same time as me havent made much progress as well. I know this doesnt make me look any better, instead makes all three of us jerks, and that is exactly the conclusion we all reached today. So we finally decided its enough and made a pact. So starting from today, each of us will have to blog daily. And the one who doesnt will have to pay a fine of Rs.10 which we will save and may be party sometime later when there is enough money collected. And considering the fact how incredibly lazy we three are, I think we will have a ball.
Although we all really like to party and have fun, but it would make me happier if our little "fine kitty" remains empty. Because then that would mean we are making some good progress.
So for the sake of 10 bucks I am back to blogging.
